The Review Of The Canon EOS-5D Digital Camera

The Canon Company has been tagged as one of the leading manufacturers in the global market of digital camera producers. Although the Coolpix P50 by the Nikon Company is not in same category with the EOS-5D digital camera but the former is melt for procurer without any knowledge of photography. This device is equipped with a lot of features, which includes a 12.8 mega pixel, 2.5 inch LCD with a resolution of 230, 000 pixels; availability of resolution setting in the JPEG and 12-bit RAW data file formats are 4, 368 x 2, 912; 3, 168 x 2, 112; and 2, 496 x 1, 664.

Comparing the LCD screen of the EOS 5D and that of the 20D, one photographer would discover that the former is moderately bigger than that of the later. Because the 5D features a screen of 2.5 inch while the 20D features a screen of 1.8 inch.

The device is equipped with a dimension of 152 x 113 x 75 mm and has a weight of 909 grams. The weight the EOS 5D digital cameras is equipped with is including the battery and memory card. When a photographer take a look or glance at the obverse of the device, he or she would notice the Canon EF lens mount. Beneath the lens mount, the activating button of the lens is found. The connection of the battery connector with the AC adapter is through the DC coupler cord, which is positioned inside the bottom of the handgrip.

The mode dial, a tiny status indicator, and the shutter button are featured at the top of the EOS 5D digital camera. The device also provides a favorable condition in poor light circumstances, which is the LCD illuminator button beside the status indicator. Several control buttons that includes the metering mode/ flash exposure compensation, drive mode / ISO speed are positioned on the top of the device. A slot melt for mounting external flash is also featured at the top of the camera.

The current status or information of the settings of the camera is display on the top-panel.

The Compact-Flash slot is showed, when a photographer slides the entrance back, which is located on the right side of the camera.

The N3 remote control terminals, USB, PC flash sync are position on the left side of the EOS 5D digital camera.

The LCD monitor and lots of control featured in the EOS 5D are found at the back of the device. The main power on/off button is found underneath the LCD screen's base right curve. The print button of the device is found at the left of the optical viewfinder. When a photographer wants to select the menu button, he or she would use the set button that is situated in the center of the Quick Control Dial. Moving the cropping frame in direct printing, AF points, adjusting white balance, are control by the eight-way joystick-multi-controller. The diopter adjustment button is position on the top right corner of the optical viewfinder.

The cover for the BP-511 Lithium Ion is reveal at the flat bottom of the camera. A BP-511 lithium Ion supplies power to the EOS 5D digital camera manufactured by the Canon Company. When the camera is place on the tripod mount, a photographer is permitted to exchange batteries without removing the camera from the mount.

On like other digital camera manufactured by different manufacturers, the EOS 5D is not equipped with a built-in flash. This is the quibble a photographer would have with this device. This is replaced by the top-mounted slot and a PC sync terminal. The device controls external flash by the use of the E-TTL II.

Determining proper exposure in the manual control is the Flash Exposure Lock button.

The EOS 5D is a utility device that is packed with a lot of functionalities that would be utilize by mostly experienced photographer around the world. Check your local shop for adequate pricing.

Celestron 52250 80mm Ultima Zoom Spotting Scope

Celestron’s popular Ultima 80mm Zoom Spotting Scope offers images that are noticeably brighter and sharper than entry level 60mm spotters. The Ultima 80 is a refractor style spotting scope with an Achromatic objective lens. Excellent light transmission is assured by multi-layer anti-reflection coatings on the objective lens as well as on the zoom eyepiece and the BAK-4 prisms. The multi-coated 80mm objective lens delivers 77% brighter views than a 60mm scope, and the built in zoom lens produces sharp images from 20X all the way up to 60X magnification.

The Ultima 80 features a sleek, waterproof design and includes a padded soft case with zippers on both ends so the scope can be protected even while mounted on a tripod. Including the eyepiece the Ultima 80 measures just over 18 inches long and weighs about 3.6 pounds. The rubber eyecup can be removed to expose a standard “T-thread” for attaching a camera. I like the 45* angled eyepiece because I can use a shorter tripod to support the spotting scope while viewing or while taking pictures with a small camera attached to the eyepiece.

The focus ranges from 27 feet to the horizon with just a few turns of the focus knob. When I fold down the rubber eye cup I can keep my glasses on and see the whole 2 degree field of view at 20X magnification. With my glasses on I need very little focus adjustment while I crank the zoom eyepiece from 20X up to 60X. Sometimes though I like to take my glasses off while observing because the view seems to have just a little more contrast and sharpness. I like the fact that the Ultima 80 gives me a sharp image either way.

The drawback of the tradition crown and flint achromatic lens used in the Ultima 80 Zoom Spotting Scope is a bit of false color, also known as blue fringing or chromatic aberration. Blue fringing seems well controlled at 20X magnification, but it becomes increasingly noticeable as I zoom up to 60X. Celestron also offers the Ultima 80ED and the Regal 80 F-ED spotting scopes which use exotic ED glass lenses to virtually eliminate blue fringing and produce the sharpest possible high power views.

Tips for Using Exposure Compensation to Over- or Underexpose By Ben Long

These days, almost all cameras have an Exposure Compensation control, which simply lets you make a relative exposure change. That is, you can tell the camera, "I don't care how you metered the scene; I just want you to go up from there by one stop." Try using exposure compensation now: 1. Frame a shot. 2. Press the shutter button down halfway to meter your scene (the camera will also autofocus and take a white balance reading). 3. After the camera beeps, the viewfinder and status LCD will show you the shutter speed and aperture settings that it has calculated. 4. Take the shot. 5. Now frame the same shot, and again press the shutter button halfway down to meter the scene. 6. Using your thumb, press the Exposure Compensation button on the back of the camera. Dial in a specific amount of over- or underexposure.

7. Rotate the Main dial until the Exposure Compensation display in the view- finder indicates a one-stop overexposure. (If you haven't changed the camera's defaults, then this will be three clicks on the dial.) 8. Take the shot. The Exposure Compensation display highlights. Turn the Main dial to increase (brighten) or decrease (darken) the setting.

Food For Thought: What's Wrong With Over- or Underexposing? Of course, once you start tinkering with the camera's carefully concocted exposure settings, you run the risk of over- or underexposing your scene to the point where bright things blow out to complete white or where dark shadows fall to complete black. When an area in your image goes to all white or all black, it becomes an area with no detail. Detail in a photo is constructed from contrasting tones, and when part of an image is one color, it looks like a flat surface. In the case of shadows, this isn't so bad. A black shadow simply looks like an area that's too dark to see. Unless there's some detail in the shadowy area that you really want to keep visible, letting a shadow darken is not too terrible. Overexposed highlights, though, are almost always distracting. An area of complete white acts like a magnet for the viewer's eye and can sometimes upstage your subject. However, at times it's worth overexposing a highlight to get better tonality on your subject. Also, a little bit of overexposed bright spotsâsmall bits of chrome on a car, for exampleâwon't necessarily be noticeable. While there are no hard and fast rules about how much over- or underexposure is too much (and many times, overexposing an image can be an effective stylistic choice), it's important to understand the risk and make an intelligent decision. Now go into playback mode and look at the two images. The second one should be much brighter than the first one. This is the image that was over exposed. Note that you didn't tell the camera a specific shutter speed or aperture. Instead, you simply told it to go up one stop from whatever it thought was the correct exposure. The T1i has an exposure compensation range of -2 stops to +2 stops. By default, the control moves in 1/3-stop increments. When you use exposure compensation, you don't actually know exactly how the camera will achieve its over- or underexposure, but the camera does follow a predictable method. It will always try to achieve its change in a way that doesn't involve a shutter speed that might be too slow for handheld use. Remember, a slower shutter speed means that the shutter is open longer, which means that your images are more susceptible to the blurring and softening caused by shakiness in your hand. If you have the ISO set to Auto, the T1i will often effect the change by altering the ISO setting, but it will never do this to the point of introducing noise into your image. Because there's no visible difference between ISO 100 and 400, the T1i has two stops of ISO latitude to play with, meaning it will often keep the shutter speed and aperture the same as you change exposure compensation.
